Timeline

3 Months: September-December 2025

Brief

CleanMind is a mobile app concept designed to support people in sobriety through daily structure, emotional check-ins, coping tools, and progress tracking. The focus is on helping users stay grounded in moments of craving, build consistent routines, and feel less alone between meetings, therapy sessions, or support systems.

Role: UX/UI Designer (research, flows, wireframes, UI, prototyping)
Platform: iOS (mobile-first)
Tools: Figma (prototype + UI system)

Project Overview

CleanMind is a mobile app designed to help users build healthier habits and stay consistent with their mental wellness routines. The goal of this project was to create an intuitive and supportive digital experience that encourages users to engage with daily habits while reducing friction and overwhelm.

I was responsible for the full UX/UI design process, including research, wireframing, prototyping, and visual design. The project was created using Figma and Adobe Creative Suite.

Problem

Many users struggle to stay consistent with habits related to mental health and wellness. Existing apps are often overwhelming, overly complex, or fail to guide users effectively through daily actions. This leads to frustration, low engagement, and difficulty maintaining long-term habits.

There is a need for a simplified, user-friendly solution that supports consistency while making the experience feel manageable and encouraging.

Goal

The goal of this project was to design a clean and intuitive interface that:

  • Simplifies the habit-building process
  • Reduces cognitive overload
  • Encourages daily engagement
  • Helps users stay consistent over time

Process

Research & Discovery

I began by analyzing existing habit-tracking and mental wellness apps to identify common usability issues. This research revealed that many platforms lacked clarity, had overwhelming interfaces, and did not effectively guide users through key actions.

Wireframing

Low-fidelity wireframes were created to map out the user flow and structure of the app. This allowed me to focus on functionality and layout before applying visual design elements.

Iteration

The design was refined through multiple iterations, improving layout, hierarchy, and usability. Each update was made to enhance clarity and ensure users could easily navigate the app and complete key actions.

Design Decisions

  • A minimal layout was used to reduce cognitive load and create a more calming user experience
  • Clear visual hierarchy ensures users can quickly identify important actions and information
  • Simplified navigation reduces the number of steps required to complete tasks
  • Consistent spacing and typography improve readability and overall usability

Each design decision was made to create a more intuitive and supportive experience for users.

Solution

The final design delivers a clean and approachable interface that prioritizes usability and clarity. The app guides users through daily habits with clear structure and minimal friction, making it easier to stay consistent.

Key features include:

  • Streamlined navigation
  • Clear call-to-action elements
  • Organized and easy-to-read content

Outcome

This design improves the user experience by simplifying the habit-building process and reducing overwhelm. By focusing on clarity and usability, the solution encourages consistent engagement and supports long-term behavior change.

This project demonstrates my ability to design thoughtful, user-centered digital experiences that balance functionality with a clean, modern aesthetic.

Reflection

Through this project, I strengthened my ability to design for behavior and user experience, focusing on clarity, usability, and engagement. In the future, I would expand this project by incorporating user testing and refining the design based on real user feedback.
